Monitoring Sites GBSSCKGEF GMS JEF Samcheok (SCK)
- Mt. Geombongsan / Gangwon-do Province, Republic of Korea
- 37° 12'-16'N, 129°15' -21'E, 0 - 844m, 4,000 ha
 

Samcheok is located in the eastern coastal area in Gangwon-Do Province.  In this area, there was a big fire which burned about 24,000ha of forest area.
This site was established in order to study the natural restoration processes and environmental change after forest fire. 
Major research topics are restoration of burnt forest area, monitoring of vegetation changes, and monitoring of environmental changes in soil, hydrological process, and wildlife communities etc.. 
Major tree species composing the forest in this area are Pinus densiflora, Quercus mongolica, and Quercus variabilis. 200㎡ of permanent plot to monitor the changes of plant species and coverages was established in 2000.
